I have more than 15 years of experience in independent publishing, digital marketing strategy and social media community management. I now focus my career on teaching and organizing professional development workshops/trainings in web analytics, social media, blogging, and publishing entrepreneurship.
I teach regularly at StoryStudio Chicago and I taught one of the first courses of its kind in analytics at Northwestern University.
I’m formerly an editor for Clamor Magazine and JSTOR Daily. I’ve worked in social media marketing and strategy for higher education, advertising agencies, and non-profits. I’ve been published in Chicago Sun-Times, Time Out Chicago, Bitch Media, Paste, and more.
I’ve spoken about media and pop culture at Chicago Public Radio, WGN and at conferences including BlogHer and EMP Pop Conference.
Right now, I’m working on Citizen Engagement Laboratory’s Cultural Pulse Project as a politics and pop culture analyst and writer.
I’m the co-founder and publisher of The Learned Fangirl, a web publication focused on the geekier side of pop culture, fandom, and online community.
